Bio
At the age of 3 I developed a passion for dancing and trained throughout dance schools in Sydney, Australia – competing in numerous dance competitions both as a soloist and in troupes. In 2013 I was awarded a one-year dance scholarship at Dancenergy Studio on the Central Coast Australia, and in 2017 I was invited to attend the prestigious Dance Excellence Conference in Los Angeles. During my time in the US I performed in Disneyland, competed against people from all over the world, and was taught by internationally recognised choreographers. I am currently still taking regular dance classes to continue my professional development with the fast evolving dance industry, including working towards my Advanced Foundation Exam at the RAD Headquarters in Battersea Square. I began my teaching career in 2014 and have since taught and choreographed award winning solos for competitions, as well as running and organising numerous successful dance workshops. In 2018 I was selected to be one of the choreographers for ‘Wakakirri’ – Australia’s largest performing arts event for schools, where my routine was selected for the State Award and Performance Award. Between 2016-2018 I completed my Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) gaining full accreditation as a registered RAD graded and vocational examinations teacher. Before moving to London in the beginning of 2019, I also completed the Level 1 Teacher Training Course with dance physiotherapist Lisa Howell. Since moving to London, I have completed 3 ‘Inspire Series’ teacher courses with the Royal Ballet School as well as being invited to view their summer school rehearsals at White Lodge and Covent Garden. With just over 6 years of teaching experience, I strive to nurture every individual’s passion for dance and help them reach their full potential. Students respond well to my encouraging and motivational way of teaching, as this has shown in their RAD exam results (with a 100% pass rate and numerous distinctions) as well as competition results and overall confidence in the studio. I currently teach dance in the genres of Classical Ballet (RAD), Stretch & Strengthen, Pointe Work, Lyrical/Contemporary, Adult Ballet, Progressive Ballet Technique and Adult Ballet. I teach children from 2+ years old, both boys and girls, and I have an extensive knowledge of the RAD syllabus from Pre-Primary to Advanced Foundation.
Testimonial
I have loved implementing Lisa’s exercises and knowledge into my ballet classes and have seen a real difference in the impact it has made to my kids ballet technique. Lisa really explains not only how the body moves and works but how it can be sustained and used safely to its maximum capabilities. Lisa really ensures that safe dance practice is her #1 priority which is imperative for myself as a ballet teacher who trains numerous kids each week!
