DANCE EDUCATOR SERIES

Level 1 - The Fundamentals

Self-Guided Option

The Self-Guided version of this course gives you the opportunity to work through the content included in our Level One Teacher Training course at your own pace, allowing time for you to explore any individual anatomical variations, develop personalised rehab programs, and discover specific dance conditioning exercises to maximise performance.

Do you have students who struggle with “Short Achilles” or restricted turnout, no matter how much they stretch?

Are you sick of cuing dancers to “pull up” or “use your core” only to see it relax moments later?

Did you know that there are ways of addressing the underlying anatomical issues with these students for immediate and long lasting change?

Our Level 1 Teacher training course - “The Fundamentals” explores solutions to the most frequent issues dance teachers come across, often in their most hard working students. From the student who struggles with flexibility, no matter how hard they stretch, to the dancer who’s feet just won’t improve, no matter how many rises they do. By diving deeper into the anatomy underlying these issues we are able to learn how and when to apply specific techniques to address the real issues, rather than pushing into range and risking injury.

Overview of the Content Covered

The course is organised into 12 different modules, each unravelling many of the common issues seen in the studio. The content is broken down in an easy to understand way, because we don't believe you need a medical science degree to understand how to help your dancers advance their technique! In-person and Online workshop attendees get instant access to all modules, while in the self-guided option each subsequent module will open once the previous one has been completed.

Each lesson looks at the anatomy involved, and then creative and effective ways to help resolve the issue in the safest way possible.

For example: Many dancers think that they have a "short" achilles, which limits their plié depth, when in reality, this is very rarely the case.  The common, and very well meaning cue to not "roll" in a plié can often have a detrimental effect, causing the foot to brace, and causing compression at the front of the ankle en fondu.

Learning how to identify this kind of issue, combined with multiple practical ways of improving range very quickly can make the world of difference to many dancers.

This unique course distils the most effective and efficient strategies for working safely with dancers to achieve their full potential. It will give you a deep understanding of the mechanics of optimal performance, allowing you to help them improve their technical capacity and prevent injury at critical stages in their training.

The Coaching Calls

It is one thing learning the in's and out's of all elements of a dancer's body, but it is another being able to apply everything real-time with the body in front of you. To create easy to follow maps for each different presentation that you may see in the studio I conduct regular Coaching Calls (every 2 weeks).  These are each focussed on one topic, usually based around a specific question from a member, for example; Hamstring Strains. We look at all of the different elements that need to be considered when working with the issue, from the anatomy involved, right through to how to manage it in class. This is a wonderful way to learn how to apply all of the content in the base training to the scenarios you will see in real life.

Each call is approximately 60 mins long, and we usually have time for further questions at the end. Previous topics have included:
