Bio
My name is Geogie Zuklic-Mikelin, RAD registered Teacher with 30 years teaching experience overseas and in Australia. I was trained in the Vaganova method in Skola za klasicni balet in Zagreb, Croatia. After attaining Level 8 and graduating in 1989/90 under guidance of Nadezda Herceg, Tatjana Lucic-Saric and Gordana Rajs-Cvenk, I joined The Contemporary Company of Vesna Mimica in a capacity of a dancer and teacher. My teaching career took over and I have taught both students and members of the Company, I also became a full time staff member in The Ana Maletic School of Contemporary Dance, Zagreb, Croatia. This is one of three schools worldwide that teach Laban Method to young dancers. As I always try to extend my knowledge in teaching ballet, I applied and was accepted in post-graduate teaching course of The Hungarian Ballet Academy. After immigrating to Australia in 2000, I gained my RAD registration and have been teaching since, from Pre-School to Advanced Foundation level. In recent years I attained certification to teach Progressing Ballet Technique, as well as attended courses with The Australian ballet medical team and Lisa Howell on safe dance practice and the relevance of the conditioning exercises to ballet technique.
Testimonial
I have been implementing the knowledge of the course into my conditioning classes, as well to my preparation for point classes. My students are regularly using suggested work to strengthen their ballet technique and prepare for their assessments and pointe work.
