The Art and Science of Turnout

Level 3 - The Art & Science of Turnout

Intensive Training Course for Dance Teachers and Health Professionals

Training Turnout poses a huge challenge for many dancers, dance teachers and health professionals. All hips are not created equal, and this, combined with the extreme demands of todays choreography has led to a huge number of dancers struggling with their hips. Unfortunately, most anatomical text books deal with external rotation only in an anatomically neutral position, which is of little help to dancers wanting to improve their range and control en l'air.

This course demystifies the training of turnout in all positions. Diving deeply into the anatomy of range and control in all positions, yet simplifying the training of turnout in each position as much as possible. We also introduce seven carefully choreographed barre exercises, designed to seamlessly integrate this kind of focussed work into the studio.

About this course:

The Art and Science of Turnout is designed for both dance teachers and therapists who work with dancers, or who want to provide holistic yet highly specific training for turnout in all directions. It is split into 8 main sections:
