How to train extreme mobility safely – In recent years, the quest for extreme mobility has become mainstream. Once solely the domain of Contortionists and Rhythmic Gymnasts, mobility that challenges our concept of normal human function has become commonplace. Unfortunately, however, the level of mobility desired often outweighs the individual’s knowledge on the subject, and young performers are trying to teach themselves rather than relying on a highly trained coach. There is no inherent issue with extreme mobility when developed safely, but unfortunately, many individuals are pursuing their mobility in a very unbalanced and unsafe way. This course looks carefully at several positions that performers of various disciplines struggle with in order to demystify the movement. Careful assessment and analysis then allows us to create a safe and effective training program for each individual to achieve their goals.
